Christos Angelides reappears on the Top 100 as he approaches his first anniversary at the helm of women’s and men’s wear retailer Reiss. This is Angelides’ first CEO role, but he built a huge amount of respect within the industry during his 28 years at Next.
Sales are robust at Reiss – up 13% to £164.5m in the year to 28 January 2017. However, operating profits slipped 12.1% to £15.2m as it invested in new international stores. So far, Angelides has mined his historic association with Next for some key hires, including the appointments of buyer and former colleague Amber Bullock, and former Mothercare executive product director Karl Doyle to the role of group trading director. Angelides’ influence on the business, and product, is likely to become clearer over the coming months.
