House of Fraser’s Plymouth store will remain open, new owner Sports Direct has confirmed.
The store on the city’s Royal Parade was set to close under HoF’s pre-administration company voluntary arrangement (CVA) proposals. It comes after Sports Direct confirmed the HoF store in Telford and the Oxford Street flagship will remain open. Sports Direct added that it hoped to be able to announce more stores which will remain trading later this week.
However, the retailer warned that time was “running out” for some locations.
It said: “ Some landlords are being very collaborative in order to give us a chance at turning the business around, giving HOF a lifeline and saving hundreds of jobs. However, some greedy landlords would rather see the stores close than help save the jobs of hundreds of people. We will continue to try to convince these landlords but ultimately time is running out. Some closures will be announced next week.”
