Canadian fashion multiple Reitmans has hired former Mamas & Papas chief executive Jonathon Fitzgerald as its new group president, Drapers has learned.
It is understood that Fitzgerald will take up his new role, based in Montreal, on 20 November. He will oversee two of the company’s brands: -size womenswear labels Addition Elle and Penningtons.
Drapers previously revealed in June that Fitzgerald left his previous role at Mamas & Papas, in a double exit alongside executive chairman Derek Lovelock.
Fitzgerald was appointed as CEO at Mamas & Papas in December. Prior to that, he was its chief commercial officer for two years.
Before that he held senior merchandising roles at numerous retailers including Target, Matalan, Sainsbury’s, JD Sports and House of Fraser.
In Reitmans’ most recent set of financial results, sales for the year to 28 January stood at CAD$952m (£570.3m), climbing 1.6% year-on-year, with gross profit at CAD$522.4m (£313m), down 0.9% on the previous year.
The retail group operates more than 660 stores across Canada. Its brands also comprise namesake womenswear label Reitmans, men’s and women’s clothing brand RW&CO, activewear brand Hyba and maternitywear label Thyme Maternity.
