Luxury etailer Farfetch has appointed Stephanie Phair as its first chief strategy officer to lead its strategic direction, innovation, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate development.
Phair launched Net-a-Porter Group’s luxury off-season ecommerce site The Outnet in April 2009 and ran the site as president until last November, when she departed alongside Mr Porter’s managing director, Ian Tansley.
They left just over a month after Net-a-Porter Group’s merger with Italian etailer Yoox Group finalised in October 2015.
Phair previously worked for Issey Miyake, Vogue and Portero in the US. Since leaving The Outnet, she has consulted for a number of digital start-ups and advised private equity firms on investments.
She is also currently an independent board director at luxury brand Moncler and advisor to Operator, a new online personal shopping platform.
Farfetch chief executive José Neves said: “Her extensive knowledge of the global ecommerce landscape, along with the operational and strategic vision that comes from having built-up and scaled a global business, will be a vital asset to ensure sustainable long-term growth as we continue to expand.”
Farfetch now partners with more than 500 local boutiques and 200 brands, connecting them to customers in almost 190 countries.
Neves said the new CSO role will be focused on the future and where the customer is heading. The news follows the appointment of Jeffrey Fowler as president of Farfetch North America, based in the New York office.
