New Manchester agency opens its doors

New wholesale agency Alamode Consultancies opened its first showroom in Manchester on 18 November, at 6 Commercial Street in Commercial Wharf.

Adam Leebetter, former global sales director at Henri Lloyd, launched the agency, which also acts as a consultancy, to bring new niche brands to the “underpopulated middle market”.

The company has signed four clients so far: streetwear label Creo Studios, swimwear brand Sink, nautical clothing brand North Sails and sports fashion brand Supremacy, of which Leebetter is managing director.

Autumn 19 will be the first season that Creo Studios and Sink will wholesale.

Wholesale prices for autumn 19 range from £10 to £150 across the four brands.

Alamode Consultancies starts selling in January and plans to launch its own brands in the future.

Although the current trading environment is tough, Leebetter is confident in the agency’s market placement: “There’s never a right time to start. For me in the market at the moment there’s a lot of brands fighting at the bottom and at the top, while the middle market is underpopulated.

“It’s easy to curate a collection, and pop the stock in a warehouse and sell it, but actually developing ranges and product forecasts for retailers – that’s where my expertise comes in.”
