Nicole Farhi brings in Nicosia to head up menswear

Massimo Nicosia, the former head of menswear collections at luxury knitwear brand Pringle of Scotland and Italian luxury brand Alessandro Dell’Acqua, has been appointed head of menswear for the Nicole Farhi and Farhi by Nicole Farhi collections at the eponymous designer label.

Nicosia will present his first menswear collection in January during Milan Fashion Week.

Nicosia said he was “thrilled” to be joining the team. He added: “I look forward to working with a brand that has a strong heritage and is known for its understated richness, through luxurious fabrics and detailing. The new collection will be taking this forward by applying innovative techniques to natural fabrics and knitwear, and developing a sharp silhouette with a soft construction.”

Nicole Farhi said: “I am delighted to have Massimo as part of the team. As an Italian, he will bring a continental element to the menswear collection, which I am very excited about. He has a sensibility very close to mine and we really understand each other.’”

Earlier this year Nicole Farhi was sold for around £5m by French Connection to private equity firm OpenGate Capital. The sale ended an almost 30-year association between the retailer and the Nicole Farhi brand, founded by French Connection chairman Stephen Marks and his former partner Nicole Farhi in 1982.
