Nike brand president steps down

Nike’s brand president Trevor Edwards, who was seen as a potential successor to chief executive Mark Parker, is stepping down and will leave the business this summer.

Edwards will serve as an advisor to Parker until he departs in August. Elliot Hill, former president of Nike Geographies, will take on a new role as president of consumer and marketplace.

The sports giant said it had received complaints about inappropriate workplace behaviour in a memo to staff, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The memo, which was written by Parker, said the retailer had become aware of behaviour that ”does not reflect our core values of inclusivity, respect and empowerment” but did not detail the nature of the complaints or which staff were involved.

Nike will conduct a review of its human resources systems to encourage employees to report misconduct.
