Record results feed €10m pay packet for Inditex boss

Pablo Isla, chairman and chief executive of Inditex, the owner of Zara and Massimo Dutti, was paid €10.4m (£9.5m) last year, thanks to record results from the company.

On top of a salary of €3.3m (£3m), Isla received almost €7m (£6.4m) in remuneration thanks to targets. While this came off the back of record results for the Spanish retail giant, as it continues its domination of the global fashion market, it was slightly down on his pay for the previous year - €12.2m (£11.1m).

In June, the company announced that net profits rose by 18% to €654m (£573m) in the first quarter of 2017. Inditex owns seven brands including Pull&Bear, Uterque, Stradivarius and Bershka alongside the fast fashion retailer Zara. It currently operates in 93 markets globally.

  • Why not? Outstanding performance while others struggle. It's those struggling who are overpaid.
