Urban Outfitters expands to the Middle East

Urban Outfitters has signed a franchise partnership deal with Azadea Group to expand its business across the Middle East and North Africa.

The first Urban Outfitters store will open in Dubai in 2019 as part of the franchise partnership. 

Azadea Group, which oversees more than 50 international franchises across the region, will manage the brand’s expansion program in MENA as part of the agreement.

There is also the potential for the other brands in the Urban Outfitters company portfolio, which includes Anthropologie, BHLDN, Free People and Terrain, to be introduced to the region in the future, but the retailer’s current focus is understood to be on the flagship American label.

Said G. Daher, chief executive at Azadea Group, said: “As there continues to be a high demand for experiential concepts, we believe Urban Outfitters will be very well received by our customers across the MENA region.”

Urban Outfitters has 240 stores internationally.
