Versace on course to stop using fur

Versace

Luxury Italian fashion house Versace is set to become the latest luxury retailer to ban the use of fur in its collections, following a declaration from its head, Donatella Versace.

Speaking in 1843 magazine, Versace said that she would no longer use fur in the Versace collections: “Fur? I am out of that. I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion. It doesn’t feel right.”

This statement follows announcements from fellow Italian fashion house Gucci that it would no longer use fur. Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo also announced the banning of fur in December 2017, and at its recent show at Paris Fashion Week, Givenchy showcased a series of sumptuous fake fur coats.
