Westfield Group’s UK centres saw annual sales rise 4.5% last year to more than £1.9bn, fuelled by its centre in Stratford.
Retail sales for the 12 months to September 30 were up 1.9% at Westfield London and 7.3% at Stratford City, or 4.5% overall. The two shopping centres are currently 99.1% leased.
The Australian group now owns 91 shopping centres in four countries aroudn the world, with $40bn (£25bn) annual retail sales combined.
Westfield London will undergo a 600,000 sq ft expansion, with the new John Lewis store set to open in 2017. The 230,000 sq ft will be the anchor unit of the expansion and is the first John Lewis store in the centre.
