Which UK private fashion firms have the fastest-growing profits?

Premium menswear independent End and designer kidswear retailer Childrensalon are among those named as Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing profits.

Looking at profit figures for the last three years, Newcastle Upon Tyne-based business End featured number 47 in The Sunday Times BDO Profit Track league, with an annual profit growth of 73% and plans to open a Soho flagship in London this year. In 2017, profits hit £16.2m on sales of £69.7m.

Kent-based Childrensalon was at number 90 on the list. Its annual profits grew on average 53% over the last 3 years, making profits of £18.3m and sales of £80m during 2017.

Sportswear also fared well, with Net World Sports and Gymshark listed as 33 and 46 respectively.

Sporting equipment and apparel retailer Net World Sports’ annual profits surged 79% over the last three years, as it plans to provide 24/7 customer service to serve its growing Asia-Pacific market. Fitness apparel brand Gymshark posting a rise of 73%, aided by its 20 million social media followers in more than 130 countries.

Clothing wholesaler PenCarrie, which handles 94 clothing brands from Craghoppers to BabyBugz, featured highest ranking of the fashion-focused businesses at 27, with an average 85% profit growth over the least three years.

The Hut Group, which owns luxury fashion and footwear etailers including Coggles and AllSole, ranked 87 in the chart, with an average 57% profit rise over the last three years. Its 2016 profits were £30.4m on sales of £501.3m.

Luxury shoemaker Crockett & Jones was highlighted by Profit Track as “one to watch” for 2018, with 2017 profits of £4.8m on sales of £29.3m.
