Whistles hunts for new stores

Whistles is looking to open new stores in the UK and overseas over the next 12 to 24 months, on the back of a strong year of sales.

The retailer has identified a target list of 33 locations in the UK, including Covent Garden and Regent Street in London, as well as market towns such as Beaconsfield, Chichester and Winchester.

“The Whistles brand has had a great last 12 months, with strong growth in like-for-like sales and profitability, both online and offline, on the back of consistently strong collections,” said Ben Barnett, chief executive of Whistles owner TFG Brands.

He told Drapers that the Whistles team, led by managing director Justin Hampshire and brand director Helen Williamson, are “very much on the acquisition trail” and will also look to grow the brand internationally, in markets such as Hong Kong where it launched last year.

The company has appointed property agent Brasier Freeth to look for its new high street and shopping centre locations.
