Drapers Top 100 2016 – 41: Richard Price, chief executive, F&F

Price joined F&F in September last year, as Tesco began to turn a corner. The supermarket returned to growth at the beginning of this year after a tough 2015. Although it does not break down its clothing sales, it is the fourth-largest fashion retailer in the UK, behind Marks & Spencer, Asda’s George and Primark.

This year Tesco seems to be intent on rolling out Arcadia concessions at its larger stores. The first five Arcadia concessions opened last year and it now has almost 20. This strategy to profitably fill spare space in large Tesco stores appears to be working. Nonetheless, it has not been an easy time for Tesco, and Price is being cautious with F&F – halting international delivery and introducing a charge for click-and-collect orders under £30.
