Superdry has enjoyed another year of exceptional growth under chief executive Euan Sutherland. In July, it revealed that group revenue had soared by 27.4% to £752m in the year to 29 April 2017, thanks to a particularly strong performance in its wholesale and ecommerce arms.

Its underlying pre-tax profit was up 18.4% to £87m. In November, it posted a further 20.4% increase in group revenue to £402m in its pre-close statement for the half-year to 28 October.

Sutherland joined Superdry in October 2014 from The Co-operative Group, and has since invested in its product innovation and marketing, in addition to international expansion, which has helped to insulate the business from weaker trading conditions in certain markets.

This year he has outlined ambitious aims to expand Superdry’s Sport range, and go head to head with Nike and Adidas. The brand is pushing ahead with plans to launch standalone stores for Superdry Sport, as well as shop-in-shops, franchise stores and “an extended online presence”.
