Position last year: 26
Tom Joule and Colin Porter slip down the Top 100 this year, as others have moved up or debuted above them. However, it has been a largely positive year for the two men at the top of lifestyle brand Joules. Group revenue was up 19.6% to £157m for the year to 28 May, and underlying EBITDA up 25.3% to £16.9m. Proving the duo have the right strategy in place for the brand, the business reported that its number of active shoppers had grown by 14% to 907,000 during the same period.
To build further on this performance, the pair are now focusing on developing partnerships and extending Joules’ product range to enable it to expand further into the travel sector, and are also strengthening the brand’s position with international wholesale partners.
As the business continues to grow, it also upgraded its head office space, investing £4.4m in a new 30,000 sq ft office in Market Harborough.
